AMEC Paragon's electrical and instrumentation group has more
than 20 years of design experience on a wide variety of projects
that include onshore and offshore oil and gas production facilities,
small to medium-size cogeneration plants, pipeline pump stations
and gas compression facilities.
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
AMEC Paragon's electrical engineers have designed power generation
and distribution systems using local and international codes and
standards.
Feasibility Studies
Our hundreds of feasibility studies for onshore and offshore oil
and gas production projects and power generation projects have involved
generation of detailed load lists, sizing of major electrical equipment,
capital and operating cost estimates, and estimates of utility charges.
Power Generation Design
AMEC Paragon has designed power generation systems with capacities
ranging from 15 kilowatts to several megawatts, low and medium voltage,
for onshore and offshore applications. Generator sets have included
gas or dual-fueled engine or turbine drivers and diesel engine drivers.
Electrical Protection
AMEC Paragon has designed protection schemes, selected protective
devices and prepared protection studies for low and medium voltage
power generation and distribution systems. These studies are performed
using "SKM Power Tools" software.
Electrical Hazops
We have participated in numerous HAZOP audits of electrical
designs and existing electrical installations. A typical audit includes
verification of code compliance, proper protections, grounding adequacy,
operator safety, installation practices, and operability.
Detailed Electrical Distribution System Design
AMEC Paragon routinely designs electrical distribution systems
including switchgear and motor controls, conduit and cable routing
plans, grounding plans, area lighting plans, switchgear and control
building layouts and installation details. We work in teams with
client engineers and use local or international industry codes,
adhering to clients' specifications and requirements as applicable.
INSTRUMENT ENGINEERING
AMEC Paragon's instrument engineering group develops control
philosophies and designs of control systems that meet clients' needs
and industry specifications on a wide variety of offshore and onshore
projects.
Pneumatic Control Systems
We design control systems in close consultation with clients'
in order to meet their exact needs. We don't automatically opt for
electronic control when a simpler pneumatic system will meet our
clients' needs cost-effectively.
DCS and PLC-Based Control Systems
We routinely develop control systems using Programmable Logic
Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCSs) for onshore
and offshore applications.
Telecommunications and SCADA Systems
AMEC Paragon works with clients' communications specialists
to design supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
and telecommunications systems for production facilities.
Integrated Safety and Process Shutdown Systems
AMEC Paragon has long been a leader in the area of process safety
management. Several of AMEC Paragon's personnel have led or served
on the committees that generated or revised important American Petroleum
Institute (API) Recommended Practices (RPs).
This experience, combined with our considerable work with international
standards and our personnel's operating company experience, uniquely
qualifies us to design safety and process shutdown systems for
a wide variety of applications.
Sizing and Selection of In-Line
Devices
AMEC Paragon sizes and selects in-line devices such as control
valves, relief valves, and flow meters using the latest versions of
state-of-the-art industry software. We also take care to comply with
the latest API, ANSI, ISA, and ASME standards. |
